DAVID DALLA VENEZIA
Nasce a Cannes, Francia, il 10 Aprile 1965.
Diplomato al liceo classico ha poi studiato Storia dell’Arte e Filosofia all’Università di Venezia.
Nel 1989 la sua prima mostra personale ha luogo alla Galleria Bac Art Studio di Venezia.
Da allora ha dipinto ed esposto in Italia e all’estero sviluppando il suo stile e perfezionando la propria tecnica
pittorica in un continuo confronto con la tradizione e la contemporaneità.
Poiché sono io che dipingo questi quadri è vero che sono ritratti di me stesso. Ma ulteriormente, in quanto ritratti di un uomo, lo sono di ogni uomo, traggo da me ciò che vi è di comune a tutti gli uomini e sottraggo ciò che mi differenzia da essi.
Cresciuto a Venezia ma nato in Francia, tra antichità e modernità, Kitsch e Arte, autodidatta introdotto ai mestieri e alla sensibilità manuali nella bottega di cornici e restauro di mio padre; la mia visione del mondo e il mio immaginario pittorico si sono nutriti e si nutrono della grande tradizione figurativa classica, dall’antichità ai nostri tempi e della cultura popolare del XX secolo (fumetti, cartoni animati, cinema); della mitologia antica e le sue relative elaborazioni psicoanalitiche, della filosofia, credendo e sostenendo fermamente il valore immediato della rappresentazione realistica del mondo e dei sentimenti umani.
Born in Cannes, France on April 10, 1965.
He graduated from liceo classico (secondary school focusing on humanities), and went on to study Art
and Philosophy at the University of Venice.
In 1989 his first personal exhibition took place at the in Venice.
He has since continued to paint and exhibit in Italy and abroad, developing his style and perfecting
his painting technique while always seeking a comparison with contemporary art.
Because it is me who paints these pictures it is true that they are portraits of myself. Furthermore, as
portraits of a man they are also that of every man, I draw out of myself what is common in all men,
but yet I remove that which differentiates me from them.
Born in France and grown in Venice, between antiquity and modernity, Kitsch and Art, self-taught
introduced to the craftsmanship in the frames and restauration workshop of my father; my vision of
the world and the imagery of my paintings were and are nourished by the great classical and ancient
figurative tradition, from antiquity to our times, and by the 20th century popular culture (comics,
animation, cinema); by ancient mythology and its psychoanalytic elaborations, by philosophy, always
believing and affirming the immediate value of realistic representation of the world and of the human
feelings.
